Experiencing
golf has often meant more to me than an 18-hole loop on an overly familiar
course. I've taken to enjoying a round
of golf in a variety of countries around the world. Perhaps the most Fun round of Golf I've had
was at Mombasa Golf Club on Kenya 's
eastern seaboard.
The
18-hole course was not overly challenging, and had a couple holes criss-cross,
making
interaction with other foursomes rather likely. It was the interaction with other golfers on
the course, in the clubhouse and through the night that made the golf
experience extremely enjoyable.

With
an afternoon tee time during a club tournament, we were racing to finish before
dusk. As we reached the final few holes,
I started to hear the pulsing base of some dance music coming from somewhere on
the shore. Asking my playing partners
about the music, they'd smile and say, "that's Florida Club".
It
was quite fun, not taking the tournament nor my game overly serious, but
watching the sun setting over the Indian Ocean mixing with the pulsating sounds
from Florida. After the round and with
drinks in hand, the awards were presented at Mombasa Golf Club. But the thoughts and discussions of Florida continued, the
locals having a rather boisterous discussion regarding my music
fascination. Hours later a large group
from the Golf Club had escorted me to Florida .
The
experience of golfing in an exotic location on a seaside course, complete with
booming club music was the most fun I recall having on a course. It was a full day & night event.
